Fiona
Simpson
Community Development
Fiona’s first
passion was fine arts; she obtained her certificate and went
off to travel Australia and then Europe in hope to be discovered
as an artist. After years of living rough and working in many
positions ranging from ‘window dresser, cook, shearer
etc’, to feed and put a roof over her head, she then
discovered a new passion, -‘working with children from
abusive backgrounds’. Fiona has worked in community
welfare for fifteen years and completed her Diploma in Community
Welfare as well as many other relevant studies. She believes
she is the master of survival and sees herself as a passage
for others to utilise and find their light at the end of the
tunnel.
Fiona brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in Mental
Health, Homelessness, Child Welfare, Sexual Assault and community
work.
Fiona has three children and a very supportive husband who
also works with the marginalised. They spend their weekends
having picnics, gardening, doing art, cooking, entertaining
and being with nature.

Ian loves organising programs for indigenous people, especially
kids. Ian views every young person he sees as being
filled with endless and powerful positive possibilities. His
latest ventures are surfing lessons in a program called Sunset
Dreaming for indigenous and multicultural kids and a new cooking
program for the community called Nutritious and Delicious.
He is a fantastic sports coach, especially on the footy field.
