Becoming a volunteer
We are greatly encouraged by your interest in working with HOPESTREET as a volunteer. We feel that it is a vital ministry that God has called us to and welcome your participation in it. As you would understand, it is important for the effective functioning of the ministry and for the safety of the people we work with, that we provide some screening and induction for volunteers. This gives volunteers an understanding of the ministries, helps develop some basics skills which are useful in our urban context, and promotes a consistent approach to ministry. This takes three forms:
Some Orientation to HOPESTREET
All volunteers are asked to do an Urban Orientation to familiarise themselves with the overall work and approach of HopeStreet.
Some paperwork
Volunteers are asked to adhere to the HopeStreet Code of Conduct, to undertake Children's Check and make a Statutory Declaration about any drug or violence offences.
Training in the particular area in which you are volunteering
The co-ordinator with whom you are working will provide on the job training for that area. From time to time there are also training days for volunteers.
