We are committed to assisting people from all walks of life who find themselves struggling with gambling problems, whether it be their own or someone else's.


We assist anyone from 16 years of age upwards.

Our professional Gambling Help Counsellors are qualified to deliver problem gambling treatment.


Locations and Opening Hours

We offer counselling at two convenient locations:

- Darlinghurst; and

- Bondi Junction.

Both locations have lift access and ease of entry.


Counselling appointments are available Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm with after hour appointments available by request.

Saturday counselling appointments available between 8am - 1pm.

Darlinghurst - 3D/140 William Street, East Sydney

  • A short 5 minute walk from Kings Cross Station
  • A 10 - 15 minute walk from the CBD or Town Hall Station
  • Sydney buses run regularly along William Street
  • 2P parking available in surrounding streets
  • Some of the suburbs that would be within a 1-2 kms radius would include Alexandria, Centennial Park, Chippendale, Darlinghurst, Kings Cross, Paddington, Pyrmont, Redfern, Sydney CBD, Surry Hills, Ultimo and Woolloomooloo

Bondi Junction

  • Centrally located in Bondi Junction, opposite Westfield, which offers 2 hours free parking
  • Bondi Junction is well serviced by Sydney Buses and Sydney Trains
  • The Eastern Suburbs is a very large area and includes Bondi Junction, North Bondi, Clovelly, Kensington, Kingsford, Maroubra and Randwick


About Gambling Counselling

We provide:

  • Free, confidential, gambling counselling and treatment in a non-judgmental environment
  • Face to face, online and telephone gambling counselling
  • Individual assessment with no referral required
  • Follow-up and Progress sessions
  • Groups and Workshops
  • Outreach Groups and community presentations


Identifying gambling problems

There are a number of ways a gambling problem may be identified:

  • Spending more money on gambling than is affordable
  • Spending too much time on the pokies, at the races, TAB, sports betting, online wagering and casino games
  • Gambling problems may not be disclosed but could be accompanied by social difficulties, relationship issues, financial problems, housing and legal difficulties, mental health issues including depressions, anxiety and suicidal thinking


Treatment for people with a gambling problem

We offer an evidence based structured Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Treatment Program

This program includes:

  • Weekly attendance for between 6 to 8 sessions (usually)
  • Strategies for harm minimisation (controlled gambling) or abstinence (quitting completely)
  • Sessions on maintaining recovery and managing relapse
  • Follow up sessions to support recovery goals


Self-Exclusion Programs

Self-exclusion programs are available for our clients. These are completed in our office and apply to approximately 35 venues (including AHA hotels and Clubs NSW) if requested.

We are also able to provide assistance with TAB and some online self-exclusion programs.


Referrals are provided for the following services:

  • Financial Counselling
  • Legal Matters
  • Housing Assistance
  • Employment and Training
  • Mental Health
  • Other Community Services


Help for Family and Friends

Counselling is available for partners or family members affected by someone else's gambling problem.

Individual, couple and/or family sessions are available.

Family workshops for family members, partners and friends are held to provide information, strategies, self care and peer support, to break down feelings of isolation.

Outreach Groups

Gambling Groups are run at refuges and community drop in centres for men and women experiencing homelessness, disadvantaged or marginalised people experiencing gambling problems.


Community Engagement

We are available to provide talks, information and presentations to community organisations, government and non-government services. These talks and presentations can cover a wide range of issues regarding problem gambling.

Family Support Gambling Help

Gambling Counselling to residents and those experiencing homelessness in the Woolloomooloo area

Every Thursday from 1pm - 3pm, Gambling Counselling is available to men and women who are struggling with gambling problems in the Woolloomooloo area.

Counselling appointments are held at the Ozanam Learning Centre (OLC), Level 3, 99 Forbes Street Woolloomooloo.

Safe Gambling Group

This is a gambling group specifically for women. It is held at Lou's Place at Potts Point.
