The Community Centre plays an integral role in the Newcastle suburb as safe and welcoming place for people who are homeless or individuals and families living on the margins.
The Centre provides a place where some of the most lonely and vulnerable people in the community are supported to address key issues, such as personal health, drug and alcohol dependence, mental health and housing needs.
In 2015, the suburb of Windale was recently named one of the most disadvantaged communities in NSW, according to the 2015 Dropping Off The Edge report.
Former Group Manager, Scott Pilgrim, penned his hopes for the future of Windale in an opinion piece for The Newcastle Herald, explaining that Windale has been a community of disadvantage for many years and it will be for many years to come, placing an unfair stigma on the suburb.
