Counselling & Family Services

You don’t need us to tell you that life is messy. Positive relationships have the power to transform lives, but every single one of us knows just how complicated things can be.

Across Australia, children, teenagers and adults are struggling with healthy and respectful relationships, marriage challenges and infidelity, bullying and anger, eating disorders, parenting know-how, traumatic events, addiction, stressful jobs competing with family life… the list goes on.

And while there’s no such thing as a perfect parent, we know that raising children is one of the hardest gigs in the world.

As people who are designed to socially connect, today our families, neighbourhoods and communities are filled with people who are busy, working longer hours and travelling, attached to devices and screens, and often just trying to get by.

Our connection with those we love, and even ourselves, can be strained at best.

It all sounds hopeless. But it’s not.

There’s no doubt that seeking out someone to talk to, to really listen, to give you new perspectives and challenge your behaviours through complicated life circumstances is something that takes bravery. And it’s always a step in a good direction.

Our clinically trained staff offer individual counselling, couples counselling, relationship support programs and groups, programs for children and training in a range of specialised areas.

We stand by our clients through times of family separation, divorce, adolescence, depression and anxiety, parenting, grief, domestic violence, sexual abuse and suicide.

We connect with them at their most vulnerable, and hear some of their deepest and hardest truths.

Our counsellors believe that each person is unique, loved by God, and worthy of respect, dignity and inclusion. Why does this matter? We think that being a safe place for people to find hope, empowering people to develop positive and healthy relationships with themselves and others, and working through the tough stuff, is part of living your best life.

Annually, BaptistCare delivers over 21, 500 hours of counselling to people seeking support through one on one counselling and group programs.
